PLATE XII
The Loop Strangle
Okuri-eri-jime

- 01
Secure the patient's back, chest lying flat along the spine, hooks set or the legs locked in a triangle at the waist. Stillness here is worth more than strength.
- 02
Pass the leading hand across the throat and take the far collar deep, thumb tucked inside the cloth, knuckles resting near the opposite ear.
- 03
With the remaining hand, take the near collar low across the chest, palm facing downward, elbow close to the ribs.
- 04Precision point
Release the low grip and slide that same hand upward along the identical lapel until its edge crosses the second side of the neck, elbow drawing tight behind the jaw. It is this migration of the hand, not the strength of either arm, that seats the collar upon both vessels at once.
- 05
Draw both elbows toward the chest, expand the chest as though filling it with breath, and tip the patient's head gently forward. The collars will close of their own accord.
- 06
Hold without jerking. Release the instant the body slackens, and lay the patient down with care.
