PLATE XXV
The Estima Lock

- 01
From half guard, underhook the opponent's near leg at the ankle and draw it across your centerline, walking your hips perpendicular to align your spine with their shin.
- 02
Thread your near leg over the opponent's captured leg and lock your foot behind your own knee, forming a figure-four that seats their ankle high in your armpit rather than your fist.
- 03
Pin the opponent's knee flat to the mat with your chest and forearm, ensuring the joint cannot travel with the hips when pressure is applied.
- 04
Cup your own hands together over the shin, elbows drawn tight to the ribs, and settle your weight so the opponent's leg is fully suspended and cannot bend for relief.
- 05Precision point
Rotate your hips away from the pinned knee while keeping the shin locked to your chest, turning the ankle against the stationary knee rather than pulling the heel.
- 06
Extend slightly through the hips to finish, applying steady rotational pressure until submission or the tap is given, never a sharp jerk.
