PLATE XXVII

The Calf Slicer

Engraved plate illustrating The Calf Slicer
Plate rendered by AI in the manner of the old engravers, drawn from reference. We are refining every figure toward anatomical exactness; some plates are near perfect and a few still carry small errors.

  1. 01

From the half-guard beneath, secure the opponent's near leg by trapping it across your own shin, denying withdrawal.

  2. 02

Rotate the hips perpendicular to the trapped limb, aligning your own shin bone behind the opponent's calf muscle.

  3. 03

Draw the opponent's heel toward your own hip, folding the knee joint to an acute angle.

  4. 04Precision point

Insert your shin directly into the belly of the calf, precisely where the gastrocnemius is thickest, and press upward against the hamstring while trapping the ankle low against your hip. This is the fulcrum upon which the entire mechanism depends.

  5. 05

Clasp your hands together over the trapped ankle, forming a closed frame that prevents rotation of the shin.

  6. 06

Extend the hips slowly, applying steady pressure rather than a sharp jerk, until submission or the limb yields.
