The Cross Collar Strangle

Nami-juji-jime

Engraved plate illustrating The Cross Collar Strangle
Difficulty IV of X
  1. 01

From closed guard or mount, insert the first hand deep, four fingers inside the far collar, thumb out, knuckles touching the spine side of the neck.

  2. 02

The second hand enters beneath the first, four fingers in the near collar.

  3. 03Precision point

Draw the elbows toward your own hips and flare the wrists so the blades of the forearms cross at the carotids, not the windpipe. Pressure on the windpipe is a request; pressure on the arteries is a conclusion.

  4. 04

Bring the opponent's head toward your chest as the elbows finish, shortening the artery's escape route.
