  1. 01

    Lie beneath the mounted adversary with elbows drawn close to the ribs, as one guards an open wound from further insult.

    Turn slightly to one side, bringing the near elbow inside the adversary's same-side knee.

    Raise the far knee toward the chest, positioning it to meet the elbow beneath the adversary's thigh.

    Press elbow and knee together against the adversary's leg, forming a single frame that denies the knee its purchase on the mat.

    Using this frame as a lever, walk the trapped hip outward and slide the hips free toward the same side.

    Recover guard by drawing the freed leg over the adversary's hip before he settles his weight anew.
