PLATE V

The Underhook and the Whizzer

Engraved plate illustrating The Underhook and the Whizzer
Plate rendered by AI in the manner of the old engravers, drawn from reference. We are refining every figure toward anatomical exactness; some plates are near perfect and a few still carry small errors.

  1. 01

Meet at the collar tie and step the lead foot outside, seeking the underhook before the grip settles. The arm burrows beneath the opponent's armpit, palm open, forearm flush to the ribs.

  2. 02

Anticipate the whizzer. As the opponent traps the underhooking arm and rotates their own overhook downward, do not yield the shoulder. Sink the hips lower than the opponent's center.

  3. 03Precision point

Turn the underhooking hand from an open palm to a cupped grip beneath the far shoulder blade, and rotate the elbow inward so the point of the elbow faces the opponent's spine rather than the floor.

  4. 04

Walk the free hand to the whizzering wrist and pin it against your own hip, denying the extension needed to complete a throw.

  5. 05

Step the trail leg behind the opponent's near heel, squaring the hips so that your sternum faces their ribs rather than their back.

  6. 06

Drive upward through the underhook in a single motion, lifting the opponent's chest away from their base while the trapped wrist remains fixed to your hip.

  7. 07

Finish by walking forward into the vacated space, converting the lifted structure into a takedown or a return to top control, the shoulder still governed by the underhook throughout.
