PLATE VI
The Shoulder Lock from Guard
Ude-garami, the kimura grip

Difficulty VI of X
- Closed Guard
- NO GI
- 01
From closed guard, sit up and grip the opponent's wrist as it rests on the mat or your hip.
- 02
Reach your other arm over their shoulder and behind the elbow, then grip your own wrist, completing the figure-four.
- 03
Scoot the hips out to the side, away from the trapped arm, and clamp the opponent's body with your legs.
- 04Precision point
Keep the trapped wrist pinned to the opponent's back as the elbow travels; the wrist leads and the shoulder follows. Lifting the wrist away releases the patient.
